PIER FAQ

What do the red lines on the navigation map mean?

Red lines outline county boundaries. Not all participating districts are located strictly in Harris County.

What do the yellow lines on the navigation map mean?

Yellow lines denote major highways.

When I click on some of the school districts, I cannot access information? Why not?

Those districts are currently not members of the Center for Safe and Secure Schools and do not participate at this time.

How can my district become a participating member?

Contact the Center for Safe and Secure Schools at the Harris County Department of Education by dialing 713-696-0770 or via e-mail addressed to Laurie Shah at lshah@hcde-texas.org

Who posts the district content?

Each district has assigned three to six staff members who are authorized to post the content for their district only.

My school had a bomb threat today; why didn't I see the incident on this site?

Each district will decide what emergency alerts they want to post. Alerts must be relative to a school district or campus closure.

I have a question about some information that was posted by my school district.  Who can I contact for more information?

If the alert did not show contact information for that particular alert, you can click on the navigation map.  Next, click on your district, and then click onto the link to your district's Web page. Contact information may be found there.
